The appointment with starts today Be comedians!, the most important traditional festival dedicated to comics, video games, cosplay and pop culture in the Veneto region, which every year brings together several thousand enthusiasts and spectators for a weekend full of emotions, entertainment and plenty of special guests, with a program full of must-see panels, contests, shows and meetings with authors, illustrators, designers, creators, gamers and more. The dates to note in your diary are today, Saturday 18, and tomorrow, Sunday 19 March, the meeting point is Pavilion 7 and Gallery 78 of Fiera di Padova, which opens its doors from 09:30 to 19:30.
In the BD and Books area, publishers will present the latest novelties: Edizioni BD BD and J-POP Manga, it will be possible to meet Alessandro Starace and Leonardo Berghella, the authors of Dada Adventure. Tora Edizioni, a Roman publishing house specializing in the publication of comics and books by Italian authors, will also involve its artists for a stand full of stories. Guests of Poliniani the authors Walter “Wallie” Petrone, Rick DuFer, Ary de Rizzo, Mattia Martignago and Claudio Calia, available during the weekend for the traditional signing sessions and crowded meetings dedicated to fans. CardGame-Club will therefore celebrate its 18 years of activity with a very special guest: Gary “Pokémon King” Haase, the biggest collector of Pokémon cards, with a heritage of around 10 million dollars. Haase will be on stage on Saturday the 18th at 12:20 p.m. to show off some cards from his well-known collection, as well as meet all of his fans for a special get-together of autographs, unboxing, and helpful advice from a true collector.
In addition, three major schools will be the protagonists of the school section: the International School of Comics in Padua, the School of Comics in Milan and the Side Academy in Verona. Their teachers will present the lessons and give live drawing demonstrations. In particular, Side Academy will bring a live connection to the Be Comics scene! two Hollywood 3D artists: Sarah Arduini, Oscar winner for Jungle Book VFX, and Riccardo Meneghello of WETA, the historic New Zealand special effects house that brought films such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit to life and Avatar.
Still on the theme of cinema, the preview of the film Headshot is to be noted in the agenda and not to be missed at all, with the special participation of director Niko Maggi and young actors Alessandro Bedetti and Riccardo De Rinaldis who will unveil the course of the film.

Comic book enthusiasts will be able to satisfy their passion thanks to the Artist Alley, where designers of all kinds will exhibit their work, while budding artists will be able to demonstrate all their know-how to the public. Among the many artists present, note the illustrator Michela Maurizi, alias MIK¥®, the first Italian manga portrait painter: on the calendar one of her performance “DIVENTA MANGA®”, in which she transforms whoever she wants into manga (in one minute !).
The Show and Community area, meanwhile, will be the headquarters for cosplayers, with photo opportunities by Epicos and Prizmatec Cosplay. And that’s not all: a space will be totally dedicated to the Star Wars universe with the participation of the 501st Legion Italica Garrison, the Rebel Legion Italian Base and the Mando Mercs Costume Club Ori’Cetar Clan, cosplay groups officials recognized by LucasFilm. For children, there will be the Galactic Academy Varykino, a real costume club for little lovers of the distant galaxy.
East of West, West of East: this is the motto of the 2023 edition of Be Comics! and for the occasion many appointments will be given to Asian enthusiasts. On the stage of the event – renamed Be Stage for the occasion – two panels will talk about the customs, traditions and unmissable places of Japan and Korea, presented by local experts and language teachers, with K-POP reigning supreme. master with highly anticipated guests including the UnKnownS crew, winner of the Lombard selections of the K-POP Dance Fight Fest.
